Chapter 1516 It Went Well Enough
It turned out that Mona was pregnant!
Nobody spoke up during the drive.
A short while later, the car stopped in front of a well-furnished private restaurant.
Edward got out of the car and walked around to the back of the car to open the door for
Mona in a gentlemanly manner.
"Thank you." Mona thanked him as she got out of the car, but her expression was very
unnatural.
He pretended not to notice the strange expression on her face.
When they entered the private room, he handed her the menu. "Have a look at the menu.
What do you want to eat?"
"I'm fine with anything. You can order as you please." She did not take the menu from him.
He glanced at her but did not force the issue.
After taking their orders, the waiter left the private room.
Hence, only Edward and Mona remained inside the private room. Neither of them said a
word, and the room was very quiet.
After a while, they both spoke in unison.
"You..."

They exchanged a glance with each other.
Then, Edward gentlemanly offered for her to speak first. "Ladies first."
Mona did not mince around the subject. Nodding slightly, she got straight to the point.
"I'm pregnant, but we both know that what happened that night was just an accident. As
one of the parties involved, I believe that you have the right to know about this matter."
"So... You're saying that you don't plan to have this child." He looked at her calmly.
His words made her raise her eyebrows slightly. "What do you mean by that, Mr. Jackson?
Are you asking me to give birth to this child?"
"Miss Mona, please let me finish." He did not deny her statement directly. Instead, he
continued seriously, "As far as I know, your family is urging you to get married. It's just
that you failed in your confession not too long ago. Coincidentally, my family is also
forcing me to get married. I don't have a suitable marriage candidate at the moment.
Compared to marrying somebody we don't know, why don't you consider starting a
relationship with me instead?"
As soon as she heard those words, she froze in surprise. In fact, she could even be said to
be dumbfounded by his words. She had been
talking about aborting the child. How did he twist the conversation to become a topic on
marriage matters instead?
His strong and steady voice sounded in her ears once more. "Naturally, that's just my
personal opinion. We can pretend I never mentioned anything if you're not willing to
entertain the idea."
Mona finally came back to her senses and hesitantly pointed out, "We don't have an
emotional connection."
"Feelings can be cultivated over time. Could it be that you have another suitable
candidate or the desire to strive for your happiness?" He glanced at her questioningly.
She shook her head in response to his inquiring look.
The confession that night had exhausted her courage. Besides, she understood Scott very
well. He would not change his mind once he refused something, and there was no point
pestering him either.
Edward nodded and continued, "Since you don't have such concerns, then I believe we
can try cultivating a relationship with each other. After all, we are aiming for marriage.
Rather than marrying somebody we don't know or getting to know an unreliable candidate
through blind dates, I believe this is a better option."
Mona opened her mouth but did not know what to say. On the contrary, she couldn't help
thinking that his suggestion was reasonable.
She had loved Scott for so many years. Under these circumstances, it would be very
difficult for her to get closer to other men. Even so...
"I need some time to consider your suggestion."
"Sure. You can let me know once you've made up your mind." He nodded in agreement.

At this time, the waiter knocked on the door and entered the private room to serve their
food.
Unfortunately, they had great trouble finishing their food during the meal.
Edward studied the woman's pale complexion and frowned. "How about I bring you to the
hospital for an examination?"
"There's no need forthat. This is normal." While speaking, Mona covered her mouth with
her hands and retched once more.
Unable to bear watching her miserable appearance, he stepped forward and picked her up
in his arms. Then, he brought her to the hospital for an examination.
Early the next morning, Tessa was worried about Mona's morning sickness. She eventually
asked the chef at home to prepare something light for her to bring to the hotel.
When she arrived at the hotel and knocked on Mona's room door, she was astonished to
see Edward opening the door.
"Why are you here?"
"Mona was suffering from severe morning sickness last night. I got worried, so I stayed
over to take care of her," Edward explained while leading Tessa into the room.
Tessa looked around the empty living room and asked, "Where's Mona?"
"She's resting at the moment." After saying that, he gestured for her to take a seat on the
couch.
She nodded in understanding. Then, she expressed her concern. "It looks like you've had a
talk with each other. How did it go?" "It went well enough.'
