CEO's substitute bride (Alyssa)

Alyssa was surprised. It took her a long time to resister what was happening. She looked at the

bodyguard for some minutes, wondering if she was dreaming.

So did Emmett finally want to see her?

A part of her was happy because she was finally going to see her husband. But the part of her felt an

indescribable uneasiness.

It was rumored that Emmett was extremely fickle and cold. If she met him, could she be able to control

him? Or could she be able to live a normal life with him?

Lots of questions were wondering in her head, as she knocked on the door of the study.

She stepped into the study and before she could observe the situation inside, she heard a voice of a

man.

“Frank, who is it?”

The voice was very hoarse just like a desert which had gone years without water. It was quite terrifying.

As the voice fade, a suited man standing beside the table stared at her and said, “Master, it’s Madame,

your wife.”

It was only then Alyssa observed the situation inside the room. The room was black and white, low key

but luxurious. There was nothing too special in but one couldn’t avoid its charm.

And on the chair behind the big desk, a strong man was sitting with his back to her.

She could see the man’s head protruding from the chair and his arms resting on the armrest. But no

matter how much she tried, she could not take a glance on the man’s face.

But she could see, it was a large man.

It was Emmett Lawrence!

Frank looked at her quietly, “Young Madam.”

“You are Frank?” She just heard Emmett call him with this name.

He simply nodded, without any words.

It seemed he wasn’t talkative.

There was a dead silence in the room. She couldn’t see Emmett but she could feel that cold aura

emitting from his body. It was enough to make her scared. She couldn’t help but lower her head.

At this time, Emmett finally spoke.

“Have you seen George?”

Alyssa was stunned for a moment and then realized that he was talking to her.

Although she had already guessed that Emmett and George didn’t have a good relationship. Yet she

still didn’t expect that Emmett called his father directly by him name. Shouldn’t he at least respect their

relationship?

It seemed like she had underestimated Emmett’s anger and resentment.

“Yes.” Alyssa did not know why Emmett asked this question, but she could feel that he had no intention

of showing her his real face.

“What did he say?”

“We chatted casually and talked about you…” Alyssa paused and said carefully, “He cares about you

very much.”

Although she felt that George has his own intentions to ask her out for dinner, but she could vaguely

say that he cared about Emmett very much.

She was a little envious that he could have a father who loved him unlike her father who didn’t even

want to look at her face.

After hearing her words, Emmett just sneered. “I heard from Justin that you two got along well?”

As soon as Alyssa heard the word ‘Justin’, she froze and her entire body stiffened. The last thing she

wanted in this world was to make Emmett think Justin and she was related. She quickly shook her

head and said, “We just met at the villa.”

But Emmett with his back to her couldn’t see her shaking her head, so Alyssa added, “We’re not

familiar with each other.”

Alyssa didn’t know why she deliberately hid the fact that “Justin” spent one night in her rental house

because of his injury. Although nothing had happened, she couldn’t explain it to Emmett. So it was

better not to say it.

“Is that true?”

The man’s words made Alyssa shudder and she dare not speak anymore.

What the hell he had heard?

Did “Justin” really say something not good to Emmett?

“Okay, get lost!” He said as if he was very annoyed.

At such a distance, although she couldn’t see Emmett’s face, she still could feel that he was very

distant and indifferent person. It seemed that the rumors were not wrong when they said he was very

impatient and cruel.

The reason why she married into the Lawrence family was that she was forced by Aurora and that she

really compromised in despair. However this was not the only reason. That other reason was she

herself wanted to get out of that damn house. And she knew very well what the consequences could

be.

Having married into the Lawrence family, she had no intention of divorce. From the first day she

married Emmett, she planned to be his wife all her life. It was not because she had not any choice but it

was the only way out of that abusive family.

So no matter how scary her husband was, how ugly he would be, she would learn to be with him step

by step.

She bit her lips, stepped forward stood closer to Emmett, and bravely said, “Emmett, can you turn

around?”

If he turned around, she could see his face.

As soon as she finished, she felt that the atmosphere in the room became colder. She held her breath

and her hands started to sweat. Seeing Emmett didn’t speak, she quickly added.

“I have no malice. I just mean we will be together for a lifetime and that we will get to know each other

sooner or later. So, I really don’t mind your physical condition. It doesn’t matter if you have scars or you

are disabled…”

Emmett was stunned when he heard those words. This was the first time he had heard someone say

this to him.

He slightly crooked his lips and his voice filled with malice and disgust, “You may not care but I find you

ugly and disgusting.”
