Chapter 0199 Kala POV
These bodies...skeletons had been here for stime, years even. Were they the remains of the pack members
that were killed in the attack that | was supposed to have escaped when | was 16.
My wolf was stirring, if that was the case these were our people. My parent's pack...my Mother's pack. How could
they be so coldly slain.
"Hector....these bodies look as if they have been here for a while. Do you think they are from the attack that my
Father madeflee from?" | whisper, it felt inappropriate to speak at a normal volaround this mass
burial...not even a burial.
"They could be. But if the attackers didn't remain and take on the pack, why didn't Beckett return to burry his
people, and more importantly to claim back your land?" Hector was right, | could feel the unease from my wolf,
something smelled off.
"I want to give them a proper burial, they deserve a proper burial." They had been so coldly left, not given the
burial for the moon goddess...who could do such a thing.
"They do, but not now. If we start disturbing them it might bring unwanted attention our way. We haven't come
across anyone yet...let's keep it that way." Hector whispers into my ear, my emotions were all over the place but
his gentle caress on my cheek help to ground be back to my centre.
His grip around my waist was super tight, the tightest I think it has ever been.

Stepping carefully over the fallen, we move towards what we assis the pack house.
My family home.
The grounds have no unpleasant smell of death, that scent left years ago, replaced by the floral perfof
overgrown greenery and wild flowers. Nature had taken back its control on these lands and she was thriving,
The house is like any other Alpha house, bigger than most buildings in the pack to differentiate between the
Alpha family and the pack members. It had cute white but now stained and rusty french panel shutters outside of
every window, a tall archway outside the front door that had now overgrown with roses. | have to in fact pull
back the stems...cutting my finger on a few thorns.
Hector pushes ahead ofpulling out a pocket knife and cutting at the roses to make a semi walkable pathway.
Once through, he pullstowards him, placing my fingers to his lips and sucking out the thorns before licking
his tongue along my skin.
His eyes hold a deliciously devious glare to them, the mate bond coming to life as | feel his intentions. My cheeks
blush under his seductive gaze and if our current location wasn't so dire, | would let my body be his for the
taking.
He holdsback behind his outstretched arm as he turns the knob on the front door.
I'm not really sure what | was expecting...a skeleton to jump out at me...but as the now open door hits.

against the inside wall, the place looks spotless. Except for a few cobwebs that show the sign of time.
Whites and blues decorate this home, in keeping with the coastal location.
My footsteps echo against the wooden floor as | walk in...testing my mind for any memories
But again no luck.
A picture hangs on the wall of a male with black sleek hair and a teenage female with sunkissed skin and long
flowing brown hair.
"That's me?" It was more of a rhetorical question, | knew it was me..but as | looked into the man's eyes that
stood behindwith his hand on my shoulder...nothing, no memory stirs.
Father...he looked younger than in the photos Alora had shown me.
In those pictures he had a white stripe in his hair and a scarred eye.
There was also no sign of the limp Alora toldhe had suffered with. This was him, the proud Alpha of the Clear
Waters pack, before the attack of course.
Before | had left him.
"Kaia?" Hector's hand gently touches my shoulder as | remain transfixed on the large photograph. "Hmm?"
"Let's keep moving." He encouragesto move on, we didn't want to spend a lot of there.

"Okay." | nod in agreement, we can always cback.
We stick together, Hector continuing to hold my hand and enter each room first.
We enter the Alpha office, where | gasp at the picture of my mother hanging on the wall. She was standing in a
flowing cream dress, her hand proudly holding her round pregnant belly...Alora and me. Other than her Greek
goddess-like beauty there is no sign that she had a hidden ancestry, that she was a white wolf like me. She
looked like a happy female that was excited to meet her babies.
"Can we go upstairs?" | murmur to Hector keen to find my old bedroom. He nods in response having searched
through the desk, but nothing to help him with his research of my past.
We head upstairs where the house starts to becdarker, the bedroom curtains still drawn. | think | find what
must have been my old room.
The biggest sign was clothes that would still fittoday...a few magazines but nothing that would helpwith
my memories.
I let my fingers brush against each item, each piece of furniture to help create new memories.
"It's tto leave." Hector's voice comes abruptly.
"What's wrong?"
"I don't think we are alone anymore."
