Chapter 203 Crazed With Jealousy

Nicholas lifted his head, feeling a tightness in his chest and a sharp pain squeezing at him. It was as if something

was about to burst out of him. In the past, he had heard of people losing sleep and appetite over relationship

troubles, but he had thought they were exaggerating. It didn’t seem necessary. Now, experiencing it himself, he

realized just how tormenting and unbearable it was.

When Nicholas closed his eyes, his mind was flooded with visions of Nancy. He saw her smiles, her adorable self,

her fits of anger, and even the cuteness of her drunken state. She was all he could see. “Why can’t you care,

Nancy?” The more he thought about it, the more his heart throbbed with pain.

He recalled the scene when they had confessed their feelings. Nancy had only said she liked him. “Is that enough?

Isn’t there another man in her heart, one she has loved for ten years? Who is he?” Nicholas desperately wanted to

know who this man was. He wanted to take a knife and cut him out of Nancy’s heart. He would do anything, even if

it meant sacrificing his own heart.

“Nancy…” Nicholas muttered her name, his heart aching even more. He couldn’t forget the day they went to

Pinnacle High School, the day they got a divorce. She sat on the field and told him about her obsession and

infatuation. Her smile was full of love and joy. It was a shy, youthful love that was beyond words. It had been so real

and perfect, but it had nothing to do with him. Those feelings belonged to another man. It was only now that

Nicholas realized just how jealous he was. He was crazed with jealousy.

Nancy had mentioned that even though that man didn’t remember her, just seeing him from a distance made her

glad and happy. She said she threw herself into her studies so that she could attend the same college as him. She

said she didn’t want much and that she was satisfied with silently harboring her one-sided love for him. There were

so many stories between Nancy and that man. But now, as Nicholas thought about it, it seemed like he hadn’t done

anything to leave a memorable impression on Nancy. “How much of a failure are you, Nicholas Sallow? You brought

this upon yourself.” Nicholas barely got any sleep that night. He couldn’t fall asleep.

Meanwhile, Nancy wasn’t doing any better. After ending the call with Nicholas, her heart was in her throat. She

would be lying if she said she didn’t care or feel hurt. She cared far too much. Still, no matter how many times the

words reached the tip of her tongue, she

dn’t dare to say them. She wanted to ask Nicholas why there was a woman’s voice in his room at this hour of the

night. Perhaps she could have even been more direct by asking who the woman in his room was. However, she

swallowed her words back down before they escaped her mouth. Nancy admitted to being a coward.

She had loved Nicholas for so many years now. She was like a lone leaf drifting endlessly in the ocean of her love

for him, loving him even when she couldn’t expect anything in return. She never felt confident. In fact, she was very

scared. Therefore, when something like this happened, she couldn’t be like other women who could confidently

interrogate him. “Nicholas, you have a girlfriend, so why are you with another woman? Do you have any respect for

your girlfriend?” Nancy couldn’t express her feelings or start a fight with him. All she could do was curl up into a ball

and hug herself, quietly licking her own wounds. She had to calm herself down and slowly tend to her injured heart.

“How pitiful.” Nancy thought she was pitiful.

Ever since Eunice died, no one had held Nancy in her times of sorrow and stroked her head while saying, “Don’t be

scared, Nancy. Mom’s here. Mom will always be with you.” “Mom…” Nancy curled up in bed and held herself as she

softly cried out. She kept squeezing herself tighter. “If only you were here with me, Mom. Mom, tell me what I

should do.” She had no way of gathering 140 thousand. How could she stand by and watch as her mother’s

reputation got ruined?

That night, Nancy had a dream. In her dream, her mother descended from the sky. Dressed in white, Eunice looked

like an angel as she landed beside Nancy. Eunice gently stroked Nancy and hummed Nancy’s favorite lullaby as she

comforted her. “Nancy, my darling, I’ll be looking out for you from above. Don’t be sad, and don’t be scared. When

it comes to love, have a little more courage. Failure doesn’t mean anything. You can always start again.” Thanks to

Eunice’s lullaby, Nancy slept soundly. Even though she only got a few hours of sleep, she wasn’t tired.

After washing up, Nancy took out her phone and encouraged herself. “Don’t be scared, Nancy. You can do it. Mom’s

right. You need to be braver. You’re his girlfriend now. Don’t back down, and don’t worry. You have every reason to

question him about that woman from last night. You can do it!” Nancy looked at herself in the mirror and cheered

herself on. When she was ready, she was just about to make the call when her doorbell rang. It kept ringing

incessantly, the noise becoming overwhelming. Nancy had no choice but to put her phone down and open the door.

When she saw Felix’s face, she instinctively tried to close the door. However, it was too late. Before she could close

the door, Felix grabbed it and forced his way in. “This is my house, Felix. What are you doing? Leave at once.” But

no matter how loudly Nancy screamed, it had no effect on Felix. He continued to shove his way in. Nancy wasn’t

strong enough to overpower a man, and after two minutes, she had exhausted all her energy. In the end, Felix

forced his way into her house. “Leave! Leave right now!” Nancy glared at Felix. But the man ignored her. “Stop

pretending, Nancy. I told you—you need to give me 140 thousand today.” “I’m telling you again, I don’t have any

money, Felix.” “I don’t care. You need to give me the money!” “I don’t have any money, Felix! I don’t! What do you

want me to do, huh?” Nancy broke down and shrieked. Felix simply eyed her coldly and menacingly. “Why are you

screaming at me? You’re not my daughter, but even if you were, I wouldn’t fall for this trick. Give me the money

now.”
