Chapter 34 Sadie and Faris chatted in delight inside the reception room next to the general manager‘s
office.
Faris thought it would be inappropriate to stay long, so he got up in preparation after half an hour,
After sending Faris to the door, Sadie made a call to report the good news. “Dad, the company is fine
now! Mr. Cook and I chatted for a bit, and he just left.”
“I‘ve already found out about the situation. However, did Mr. Cook tell you why he‘s helping
you, Sadie?”
Sadie paused for a moment before saying, “I asked him about that. He claimed that he just could not
stand Archer‘s despicable, shameless behavior anymore.”
Liam said in suspicion, “Is that all?”
“That‘s what he said,” answered Sadie in puzzlement.
“Alright then. Quite a few quality control chiefs called me up earlier to apologize. They claimed that they
had too many drinks last night and had already passed most of our major projects.”
“That‘s awesome!” Sadie‘s gaze turned cold. “However, Miles… He has been watching me all this time,
and I find that revolting!”
The father and daughter chatted for a while. Liam took a glance at the time and said, “Go and get
prepared. Trevor Lawson is calling for a board of directors‘ meeting. I have no idea what sort of trouble
he is getting into.”
Trevor Lawson was Miles‘ father, the second–biggest shareholder of the company.
Not long after Easton had returned from his lunch break and taken a seat, Sadie’s assistant, Chelsea
Hayes, visited The Tetrad‘s office.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Mr. Oxley, Ms. Wolfenden would like to see you for a moment.”
“Sure, Ms. Hayes. I‘ll be right there!”
Easton was puzzled as to why Sadie wanted to meet him.
Afterward, Easton arrived at the general manager‘s office quickly. “Mr. Wolfenden! Ms. Wolfenden!”
Easton felt his heart racing because Liam and Sadie appeared to be displeased.
Sadie appeared agitated. “There‘s a $440,000 payment we have yet to receive from Capital Building
Material Corp. that Trevor Lawson has assigned to The Tetrad specifically.”
Easton was stunned instantly. “It is not easy to deal with someone like Mr. Young...”
Sadie said furiously, “Both the Lawson father and son are b*stards, and all they care about is to put The
Tetrad in difficult situations. They‘re doing that so your grandfather will give up on
supporting our company.”
Easton cursed, “These two sons of b*ches. I‘m going to commission someone to beat them up badly!”
Sadie said in an unpleasant tone, “Don‘t get the company in trouble anymore! I wanted to see you so I
could notify you in advance and prepare you mentally for that.
“I will get in touch with Mr. Young and send you over once everything is in place.” Easton was relieved,
but his expression changed for the slightest bit when he remembered Kayson all of a sudden.
‘Isn‘t this a chance to change the people‘s perception of The Tetrad?‘
Hence, he said, “Don‘t be angry, Ms. Wolfenden. Why don‘t you let me give it a try?” Sadie darted a look
at him. “Let you give it a try? Are you serious?” Easton sniggered. “I shall send Yarde to spearhead the
task whether it‘s a success or not!”
Sadie considered for a moment and said, “Since you‘re so enthusiastic about this, you may pay them a
visit but don‘t ever bring the relationship to a deadlock.”
Easton had an impulsive temperament, so she was obliged to remind him in advance.
“Don‘t worry, Ms. Sadie. There‘s $440,000 at stake. I won‘t mess around.” After assuring her, Easton left
the general manager‘s office and returned to the projects department.
Liam said solemnly, “Trevor has actually acquired Westcity‘s Plot No.8 from Triumph Land‘s director, Mr.
Queen. We‘re in big trouble.” Westcity Plot No.8 was a land they had devoted a lot of effort in acquiring
previously yet failed
to acquire! It had been acquired by the leading company in Greenspring known as Triumph Land Corp.
Westcity was the next key development zone of Clouspring, where a few large–scale commercial areas
were located at. Hence, Westcity Plot No.8 was highly sought after.
Trevor‘s action shocked all the shareholders!
As a result, Sadie and her father were the passive party during the meeting.
Sadie said, troubled, “We can only take one step at a time. Our main focus now is to keep The Tetrad!”
Easton returned to The Tetrad.
As soon as he entered, he ran straight to Kayson and wrapped his arms around Kayson’s thigh.
“Help, Mr. Kace!”
Kayson dodged Easton and appeared to be scornful. “What is it? Tell me.”
Easton told them about the situation brieflv. Reva and the others were infuriated by learning that the
Lawsons could not care about anything except targeting The Tetrad!
Kayson was rendered speechless. He said, “It‘s just bringing over a contract to them and getting a
signature. Can‘t you do it by yourself?”
Easton said shyly, “I can do it, of course. Yet, they may not necessarily sign it for me, right?” “Why do you
say so?” Kayson asked casually. “The director of Capital Building Material Corp. is known as Kenneth
Young. It is said that he built his company from a wood company. How many of those involved in wood
factories in the past are good people?” “I heard Kenneth used to go against the Gillete Group‘s Wilson
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmtoo. Wouldn‘t he skin me alive if I were to go alone?”
Easton pulled a long face and said, “Our Wolfenden Corp. ventured into Clouspring later anyhow, so
Wilson had already dominated relationships with these companies from the start.” Kayson understood
why Kenneth would never pay attention to a measly figure like Easton.
Let alone it was an intentional scheme set by the Lawsons.
The Lawsons had most probably bought over Kenneth, so he would never agree to sign the contract and
make the payment.
Kayson could not help chuckling and said, “Why did you still accept the task when you‘re aware of the
situation?”
Easton said shyly, “Mr. Kace, if we can accomplish the mission, we can change the others‘ perception of
us apart from discrediting the Lawsons.
“Under your leadership, we won‘t allow ourselves to go to pot, right?”
Kayson considered for a moment. “However, it seems that Mr. Young is not easy to deal with. You‘re not
influential or rich. Why would he show you any respect?‘”
“We still have you with us, Mr. Kace. A man like Kenneth yields to force but not a soft approach. I‘ll need
your help to boost my appearance by then.” Easton said with a bitter smile, “If our group can‘t even
complete a small task like getting a signature, the others will keep looking down on us for the rest of our
lives, Mr. Kace. “Ms. Wolfenden has already been under a lot of stress to keep us here. I hope to share
her burden.”
Kayson said, “Signing the contract is all, right?” Easton said in haste, “That‘s right. Do they still have the
courage not to make the payment after signing the contract?”
Kayson considered for a moment and nodded, “Alright then, I shall come with you.”
Kayson took on the task. “Really? That‘s awesome!” Easton leaped up in joy.
