Chapter 213
After all, Serenity had neither stolen nor robbed anyone for this job. She was merely doing honest work
in exchange for money.
“Why didn’t you tell me if you wanted to work as an extra?” Aria asked her. “I could’ve landed you a role
with a line or two. It would’ve earned you much more than what you make as an extra!”
As Aria spoke, she deliberately stroked her hair to show off the expensive watch on her wrist. Serenity
noticed this and was amused.
“I’m not the kind of person who would trick my own sister to have a drink with someone just to ask for a
role with a few more lines,” said Serenity,
“You…” Aria’s expression soured. She knew that Serenity was mocking her for trying to offer Serenity
up to an assistant director in the past. But within a few moments, she looked as if she had suddenly
thought of something. She looked Serenity up and down as she asked her, “You’re short of money,
aren’t you? Is that why you’re working as an extra? Don’t you have anyone to lend you some money?
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWhy do you need to work so hard for so little money?”
“I have no need to tell you anything.”
Serenity could not be bothered to pay any more attention to Aria, so she just walked past her and over
to the waiting area for the extras.
Aria frowned and hesitated for a moment before ordering her assistant, who stood by her side, “Go and
find out everything you can about that woman called Serenity Lewis. Find out what kind of living
conditions she’s in right now and who recommended her to work here. Just find out everything about
her, the more details the better.”
Was there really any connection between Jackson Valor and Serenity Lewis? Aria kept considering this
question, but she never came up with a certain answer. If the woman she had seen Jackson Valor carry
into his car truly was Serenity, there would be no need for Serenity to work as an extra to earn money.
After all, Serenity was never the type of person who had any interest in showbiz at all. If she really
needed some money, she could have just asked Jackson for it.
Besides, no one ever earned much money working as an extra!
Aria was putting on her makeup when her assistant returned with all the information about Serenity,
ready to report to her.
“What?!” Aria responded in disbelief. “She’s still working at the Sanitation Office? And the person who
recommended her to work as an extra is her colleague there?”
“That’s right,” her assistant replied. “In fact, Mr. Gray heard from the woman who recommended her
that she’s in desperate need of money right now and was looking for a way to earn some extra money.”
Hearing this, Aria felt as if a heavy weight had been lifted off of her chest. It was apparent now that
Serenity was no longer with Jackson Valor. Or perhaps it was more accurate to say that even if she had
been with Jackson Valor before, their relationship was now either completely severed or at the very
least, cold and distant. Otherwise, Serenity would never have to work as an extra just to earn some
money.
Aria had been really concerned that her sister might be in some kind of relationship with Jackson Valor,
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmbut now that she knew it was nothing after all, she had nothing to worry about if she wanted to do
something.
She recalled how she had lost all opportunities in the past after Serenity had been sent to prison. She
had lost her chance to get leading roles and was forced to become a third-rate actress. After that, in
order to
get a chance to get better roles, she made Serenity accompany an assistant director, but in the end, all
she had gotten was a slap from the assistant director.
Her journey after that had become even more tortuous.
Back then, all she had wanted Serenity to do was talk to Zeke Shaw and ask him to get her better
roles, but what had her sister done? She had merely gotten on her high horse and refused to help her
outright!
All Serenity would have had to do was swallow her pride a little and beg Zeke Hall, and she could
easily change Aria’s fate, but Serenity had never done anything about it at all,t a new
Had Aria never met Lucas Gomez, she was sure that she would never have a chance to turn over a
leaf again.
