Chapter 264
“Serenity just doesn’t want Aria to have good things, especially when she can’t have them herself!”
Catherine was indignant.” If she’s ruining things for Aria and Lucas, I’ll tear her apart!!
Grayson said instead, “Could there be a misunderstanding?”
After all, Serenity was also his daughter. To be frank, Grayson did not really care which of his
daughters could be with Lucas as long as he got to be Lucas ‘s father-in-law.
“Misunderstanding? How can that be? Serenity is just trying to climb the ladder! Catherine said. “How
else could she get involved with Lucas after meeting Jackson? She doesn’t even consider this. She’s
an ex-convict. Will they even take her seriously? It’s just for fun.”
Catherine spared no effort to slander her stepdaughter, fearing that she would rob her daughter Aria’s
great marriage.
“But Aria is different. Aria has a clean record! She’s Luca s’s official girlfriend. Aria will become the best
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtactress and eventually marry into the Gomez family. It’s just a matter of time!”
Catherine spoke as if Aria would become the best actress and Mrs. Gomez the very next day.
Hearing that, Grayson nodded, “okay, enough. I’ll have Serenity come home and make it clear to her.
She should keep her distance from Lucas and not ruin Aria’s chances.”
Aria and Catherine exchanged a glance and beamed.
“Thanks, Dad,” Aria said, but worry clouded her face again as she continued apprehensively, “But what
if she doesn’t listen?”
“I’m her father! She has to listen to me as long as her last name is Lewis!” Grayson said with a tough
look.
Aria lowered her head slightly, a smile crossing her lips.
That night, Serenity got a call from her father, Grayson.
“Oh, Serenity. You haven’t been back for a while. Why don’t you come back? We need to discuss your
mother’s grave relocation,” Grayson said.
“Grave relocation?” Serenity was shocked.
“Yes. We buried your mother in the village cemetery, but the village will be redeveloped. The land is
being expropriated for development, so many graves need to be relocated. You didn’t know because
you were in jail. The village has already received the official notice,” Grayson explained.
Serenity pursed her lips slightly.
When her mother had died, they had not bought a plot in the cemetery to bury her. Instead, her father,
Grayson, had gotten his friend’s help. Grayson’s friend came from a small village on the outskirts of
Solaria. There was a public cemetery there, and burial was free, so Serenity’s mother had been buried
there.
After her mother’s death, her father had never paid respects to her for years. It was not until Serenity
had studied hard and gone to a good high school and university that following that, her father and
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmstepmother had visited Serenity’s mother’s grave to pay their respects.
When Serenity had been imprisoned, her father had stopped visiting her mother’s grave,
Serenity had visited her mother’s grave after leer release from prison. The woods had grown so much
and almost covered the words on the tombstone, and cr acks had appeared between the tombstone
and the grave. She had wanted to repair the cr acks on her next visit, but she did not expect to love to
move the grave,
“okay. I’ll be back,” Serenity answered. She would never go back unless it was for her mother.
“How about tomorrow night? You can come over. What do you want to eat? I’ll send Cath to get it,”
Grayson spoke in a fatherly tone which shocked Serenity for a second.
Serenity had only heard such a tone in the prime of life, which was when she had a successful career
and good love life. Her father would talk to her warmly then, but everything had changed after she had
been imprisoned.
Serenity then realized the truth. Her father had only treated her as an unwanted child from a previous
marriage. He would treat her like his daughter while useful but abandon her as soon as she held no
valur in his eyes. “No need. I’ll come after dinner.” Serenity ended the call immediately and put the
phone away.
