Chapter 163

As Emma felt warm on the inside, she couldn't explain the strange chemistry and intimate feeling she

had with Wilson, although they only met each other once in Kingsford. Then, when Wilson suggested

that she become his goddaughter, she surprisingly accepted him, as if they were meant to be a family.

After going through the trauma of being hurt by Steven and his son, Emma felt so touched by Wilson's

love and care that she began to burst into tears.

When Wilson sensed Emma's unusual reaction, he quickly showed his concern in a startled manner.

"What's wrong? Are you alright?" Unknown to himself, Wilson's anxiety was getting the better of him

because he knew there was little his words could do to help appease her since they were not talking

face to face.

However, Emma wiped her tears and smiled in response. "Yeah, I'm crying, but I'm shedding tears of

joy because of how fortunate I am." Ever since her mother passed away, the world seemed like a cold

place with less and less kindness, except the warmth she felt from her friendship with Susanna if it was

of any consolation. At the same time, while Christopher also cared about her since she was married to

Trevor, the others in the family wouldn't stop finding ways to hurt her. Therefore, Emma's emotional

floodgates opened in response to Wilson's kindness, which she hadn't felt for a long time.

"Phew! As long as you're not crying over something that breaks your heart, my girl." Wilson heaved a

sigh of relief.

"No, I'm not," Emma replied tearfully, trying to alleviate Wilson's worry.

Soon, Wilson paused for a second and said, "You may be my goddaughter, but I guess it's best for you

to call me and my wife Uncle Wilson and Aunt Nina. After all, I bet it probably won't sit right with you if

you have to call us Dad or Mom. Also, I don't think it's going to sound appropriate for you to call us

'Godfather' or 'Godmother' either, so I'm good with 'Uncle Wilson' and 'Aunt Nina'."

"Sure," Emma replied with an affirmative hum, feeling touched by Wilson, who was thoughtful enough

to figure the little details out.

"By the way, we can't go anywhere else until your aunt is discharged from the hospital in a few more

days, but when she is out, we'll be sure to visit you in Jonestown," Wilson said.

Emma quickly replied, "No need for that, please. You should just stay where you are and let me travel

to Kingsford to visit you." After all, she couldn't allow Nina to go through all the trouble and hassle of

traveling, thinking she probably needed more rest to recover. For that, she reckoned it was more

appropriate for her to visit her in Kingsford since she wasn't required to stay in the office the whole day,

Wilson pondered for a while and said, "Well, I guess it's not a bad thing for you to come and visit us

either because I could introduce you to the rest of the people in the Young Family."

"Wait, what? I'm going to meet the rest of the people in the Young Family?" Emma was intimidated by

the thought of facing the members of the established family in Kingsford.

Wilson smiled and answered, "Of course, now that you're our goddaughter, you should meet the elderly

of the Young Family. After all, your grandparents are still around, and they'd be happy to see you."

"But I…." Emma had no idea what to say because she thought she was only supposed to meet Wilson

and Nina. After all, she had only met them a handful of times and was not ready to meet the rest of the

members of the Young Family, let alone the elderly. Moreover, she wasn't comfortable with all the

attention she would be receiving by then, thinking it wasn't necessary because she was merely just

Wilson and Nina's goddaughter.

thing for you to meet the rest of our family members in order to let everyone know you. By then, you'll

business here."

saw a message from Trevor. 'I'm going to give you some time to take care of your mess with Wesley.'

Upon reading the text message, the lady couldn't help but feel annoyed and irritated. What does he

mean by 'my mess'? He is the reason everything looks like a mess here. Anyway, what makes him

think something is wrong between Wesley and me? Because I don't think I gave myself away. Deep

down, Emma couldn't help but wonder whether Trevor thought she was trying to play hard to get with

him by pretending to date Wesley. Does that man think that I can't fall for someone else because he

still thinks I'm in love with him?

As the thought of that ruined Emma's mood, she grew irritable and decided to block Trevor's number

and his contact on WhatsApp. That should send that narcissistic guy a clear message. After that, she

put her phone away and turned her attention to the two cats, which she took to the study when Jared

and Alice came by earlier. Oh dear, I hope they weren't scared by the commotion that was going on just

now.

On the other hand, Trevor was actually listening in on the tele-conversation between Emma and Wilson

outside the room earlier. After that, he turned around and walked away with peace of mind, knowing

she wasn't talking to Wesley. At the same time, the reason he chose to leave after a moment of

hesitation was that he couldn't bear to hear what Emma would have said to him if he had stayed and

waited for her, thinking it would be something mean and devastating. Deep down, he could still

remember the time he kissed her when she swung by his residence to retrieve the gallery, as he was

To Trevor's surprise, Cerys' phone call successfully went through, but before she could say anything,

the man snatched her phone from her and questioned Emma. "Hey, why didn't you pick up my call?" As

soon as Emma heard and recognized his voice, she immediately hung up the call, leaving the man

angry with Cerys' phone tightly grasped in his palm.

Cerys then said, "Mr. Bateson, I think… Emma might have just blocked your number." After all, that

was the only answer she could think of to explain why her first call successfully got through when

Trevor kept failing. While Trevor was rendered speechless, Cerys asked, "Why don't you try reaching

her through WhatsApp?"

While Cerys believed Emma had also blocked Trevor's contact on WhatsApp, the man snapped out of

his trance and decided to give it a try as per his assistant's advice. As soon as he sent out a text

message to Emma, his response was met with a huge icon of a red exclamation mark with a few words

that read, 'This number is not on your contact list.'
