Chapter 55 After the encounter with Trevor which had worsened their relationship, Emma just stayed home and

worked hard on writing her script.

She wanted to finish the script as soon as possible so that the production company could begin filming

the TV show and she could cease interacting with Trevor.

Despite the fact that she knew her plan was unrealistic, even if she finished her script, the production

crew would still call her if there were any difficulties during the filming process. It was better for her to

finish everything earlier so she could draw the line with Trevor, wasn‘t it?

Usually, an episode of a show was within the range of 12,000 to 15,000 words. Emma stayed focused

day and night to complete the script for an episode in a day. Her head would hurt from working too

much sometimes.

One day, she received a call from Joseph. “Little Yates, we faced some problems while preparing for

the shoot, and we‘d like to discuss them with you. Would you be free to talk about it over lunch later?”

“Sure. Just tell me the venue.” Emma promised him.

In the production of a show, it was usual for the director and scriptwriter to have discussions.

It just so happened that she was exhausted from writing, so she went out to unwind for a while.

Soon. Joseph sent an address to her. It would lead her to a restaurant at Jonestown Film Studio.

Emma left for the location after she got ready.

When she arrived at the private room in the restaurant, she knocked on the door and entered. The

sight of the middle–aged man who was sitting beside him greeted her, and his appearance made her

frown.

The man was an assistant director on Joseph‘s team. Susanna criticized him a lot because he was

perverted and had a history of harassing many actresses.

However, he did not dare to harass the actresses who were already famous.

He targeted those actresses who were either new in the industry or those who were

timid because they would stay silent about his harassment.

Emma had a hunch that something bad would happen when she looked at the man.

The last time Emma had dinner with Joseph, Joseph‘s hand almost touched her waist,

and it traumatized her for quite some time after she went home.

Hence, she made sure to dress as conservatively as she could this time. She was dressed in a long–

slceve blouse and a pair of long jeans, hiding all of her curves and skin as she was afraid that her

dress would attract men with bad intentions again.

After greeting them, Emma went over, and as soon as she took her seat, the assistant director‘s hand

smoothly rested on her shoulder.

The man stared at her beautiful face brazenly. “Emma, how old are you this year? You look so young

and youthful.”

As he said that, he tried to touch Emma‘s face. Emma could not stand it anymore and stood up,

avoiding this touch.

Forcing a smile on her lips, Emma said, “I‘m sorry. I need to use the washroom.”

The first thing Emma did after leaving the private room was to call Susanna to tell her that she had met

the perverted assistant director.

Susanna suddenly grew cautious. “Find an excuse and leave. That man is disgusting.”

Emma was in a dilemma. “But we still need to work together for the entire production soon. It‘s not wise

for me to offend them now.”

Susanna had already risen to fame, so she could ignore all the shameless men, but it was a different

case for Emma.

At most, Emma was just a talented scriptwriter. Before she became successful, she could not afford to

offend anyone,

Susanna said, “I can‘t leave right now. Otherwise, I could go over and accompany you.”

As Susanna was already selected for the role of the queen consort, it was normal for her to have meals

together with the director and scriptwriter.

After giving it some thought, Emma said, “I‘ll give President Zurich a call.”

“Wesley is going to take at least half an hour to reach where you are.” Susanna disapproved of

Emma‘s plan.

Then, she said again, “What about this? You stay in the washroom for the time being. I just

remembered that Adam is here today to try out for a role too. I‘ll ask him to go over and accompany

you. It‘ll take at most ten minutes.”

Emma breathed out a sigh of relief. “That‘s great.”

Susanna hung up on Emma and then proceeded to call Adam while Emma continued to hide in the

washroom.

Although she did not want to involve Adam in this, afraid of dragging him down the dirt road with her,

she was left with no choice under such circumstances.

She did not expect the perverted assistant director to be around, but she could not just walk away as

she wished.

Emma had Wesley‘s support, but Trevor would definitely make her life miserable because, firstly, she

had a terrible relationship with Trevor now, and secondly she caused a conflict with the directors.

“Emma, I‘ll be there soon. Hang in there.” Adam sent her a voice message on WhatsApp, and it made

Emma sigh in relief.

Connections are indeed important for an easier life.

However, she could not keep hiding in the washroom because Joseph gave her a call, urging her to be

quick.

Emma looked at Adam‘s current location and noticed that he was arriving soon. After taking another

deep breath, she finally returned to the private room.

Who would‘ve thought that the assistant director would approach her right as soon as she entered the

room?

Emma took a few steps back until her back touched the wall. Joseph was sitting by the side, looking as

if whatever happened in the room was none of his concerns. At the sight of that, she looked toward the

assistant director with gritled teeth. “What are you doing?”

“Why are you so nervous?” The assistant director moved closer to her with a conniving smile plastered

on his face. “Emma, I promise you that you don‘t have to amend the script‘s second half if you could

make me happy.”

Emma sneered. “It was good enough initially and required no changes anyway. Also, I just found out

today that the both of you treat your female coworkers this way. I wonder what President Zurich would

think of you two once he finds out.”

Hearing that, the assistant director let out a loud laugh. “Some temptations are hard to resist. Someone

will protect us regardless of what we do.”

Emma was puzzled by his words. Someone is protecting them?

The assistant director said again, “This is how cruel reality is. If you can‘t accept it, leave the industry.”

Emma gritted her teeth and pushed the assistant director away. “Move.”

“Damn, she‘s a feisty one,” the person said and grabbed both of her hands as he leaned in closer to

her, wanting to steal a kiss.

At this moment, Adam came through the door. At the sight of what the assistant director was doing, he

landed a punch on the man, causing him to fall to the ground.

Emma was shocked and quickly went over to stop Adam. “Stop beating him! Stop it!”

However, Adam was furious and did not listen to her. He hovered above the assistant director and just

kept punching him.

“Adam!” Joseph was shocked and came over too. He screamed Adam‘s name, wanting to stop him.

Adam was younger than them, and with only one arm, he shoved Joseph to one side before Adam

started to land his punches on the assistant director again.

In the end, the assistant director pleaded in tears, “Stop it. Please stop…”

“I didn‘t do it on purpose. Crystal wanted me to do that because she wants you out of the production

team no matter what.”

When Adam heard Crystal‘s name, he stopped right away. Then, he turned to look at Emma.

She was in disbelief too.

Why did Crystal have to do this?I‘ve changed the script according to what she wanted. I‘ve gotten a

divorce with Trevor, and I stayed away from him. Why does Crystal still want to do such evil things to

me?
