| looked at the ring on my finger and twirled it

around aimlessly. It had been ten days, and | still wasn't used to wearing it. Sometimes, | took it off and when |

did, | felt so much better. There was a kind of commitment that calong with that ring, and | wasn't ready for

it. Not in the slightest | sat in my office at the company, looking at the design in front of me. | wasn't fond of it.

Something was missing, but | didn't know what. Usually. | drowned myself in work to keep my mind off

overthinking, but | couldn't do it today.

| saw the way Matt smiled when he took a glimpse of the ring on my finger, and it killedthat | wasn't as

happy as he was. In sway, | felt like | was being unfaithful to him.

While | was examining the design in front of me, my telephone started ringing. | reached for it and answered.

"Hello, | absentmindedly answered.

"Miss Eddings. Mr. Kensington is here and he would like to see you, Destiny, my personal assistant, said.

"Which Kensington?" | wondered.

"Mr. Julian Kensington," she replied. Of course, it would be him. Why would his dad cto see me?

"Let him in." | told her and hung up. What was he doing here?

When Julian walked inside. | stood up. He looked good in his dark grey suit. Why did he look better than the fi

He was about to say something, but his eyes fell on my hand and he closed his mouth. | looked at where he was

staring and noticed what caught his attention. The ring.

"Congratulations," he muttered, looking away. Did he think that. Even if | was truly engaged, he didn't have the

Another part felt bad for him, because | saw the pain on his face.

"I chere to give you something." he said. When he first walked in. | didn't notice the blue file he had with

him, but I did now.

"What's this?" | asked in confusion.

He was about to answer, but our conversation got cut by his phone and | took a deep breath, trying to calm

myself down. Why did his presence

"What? What hospital? Is she okay?" | gave him my full attention. Worry was evident all over his face. "I'm

kept looking everywhere but me. When | noticed how shaky his hands were, | frowned. "Julian, talk to me."

"She... she's not okay. She's been taken to the hospital," he stutters, finally turning to look at me. His face was a

little bit pale and his eyes were wide with horror. | had never seen him in that state before. | didn't know what to

do, so | just reached for his hands and firmly he "Who are you talking about?" | asked, trying to keep my voice

"Great. Now tellwhen your birthday is." | planned on making the questions a bit harder to force his mind to

"Good. Now, when is Rosie's birthday?" That was the newest piece of information | had told him.

"September 5th and yours is January 20th, he replied. I didn't ask him about my own birthday, but I didn't care at
