Marian knew that Brandon would take Sophia's side.
As long as Sophia let the matter rest, Brandon would back off and stop breathing down her neck.
Right, as long as Sophia left it unsaid.
Marian suddenly felt a glimmer of hope. She mustered her strength to get up from the couch and staggered to the door, bursting
out without a moment's hesitation.
She went to look for Louis first.
Louis had just laid down when a persistent knocking roused him from his drowsy state.
Rubbing the sleep from his eyes, he slowly got out of bed, unlatched the door, and opened it to find Marian, her eyes swollen and
red from crying.
As soon as the door swung open, he saw Marian standing there, her eyes red and puffy from crying. On seeing her, Louis
immediately felt a rush of concern, his voice softening to a tender whisper like one would use to soothe a child, "Yoli, what's
wrong? Did your brother say something to you again?"
Marian shook her head with tears in her eyes, "No, it's not about my big brother."
"Grandpa, would you cwithto apologize to Sophia?" she pleaded in a tearful, tender voice, "l wronged her, and | want to

Relieved to hear her intentions of apologizing, Louis nodded repeatedly, "Of course, we should definitely offer her a proper
apology."
"Then, would you cwith me?" asked Marian, "I'm afraid it won't seem sincere enough if | go alone."
Louis didn't hesitate a bit before agreeing, "Of course, | will cwith you."
Marian glanced at Renata, who was basking in the sun on the balcony, and hesitated, "Could we bring Grandma too?"
A shadow of difficulty crossed Louis's face, "Your Grandma is not in the best health, I'm worried it might be too much for her."
"It's okay. I'll drive you there; we won't have to walk," Marian urged quickly, "Grandma has always liked Sophia and has wanted to
see her, right? This could be a good chance for them to get together, and it might cheer her up."
Louis gave her a look.
Marian, feeling a bit guilty, let her eyes droop and lowered her voice, admitting her true intent, "Having Grandma there might
make Sophia a bit more approachable. Martin toldthat Brandon wantsto publicly admit my mistake and apologize. And if |
do it publicly, my reputation and future will be ruined. It was just a moment of confusion."
As Marian spoke, she started crying again, her visage reflecting a mix of guilt and self-reproach, pitiful to behold.
Louis couldn't help but sigh. He despised plagiarism and such acts, but she was his own granddaughter. Thinking about how his
negligence in the past led to her getting lost and suffering for so many years, possibly leading her down the wrong path, he felt
both pain and remorse.
The more Yolanda strayed from the path, the more Louis blamed himself, thinking she should have been happily growing up
surrounded by her family. Had she not gotten lost all those years ago, she might have never gone astray.
Regardless of what Yolanda had become, the fault was ultimately his own.
Torn by a mix of debt, heartache, and guilt, yet relieved by her willingness to recognize and correct her wrongs, “to err is human; to
forgive divine,” he hoped the matter could be resolved privately. Yolanda was still young, with a long life ahead, and shouldn't carry
such a stain.
So, with all these emotions, he finally nodded, "Okay, we will go with you."
"Thank you, Grandpa."
Overwhelmed with gratitude, Marian hugged Louis tightly, alternating between tears and laughter as she thanked him.
Content with her thoughtfulness, Louis gently patted her shoulder, comforting her in a low voice, "What are you there to thank me
for? Go and get ready, I'll ask Leo to prepare sapology gifts."
After a pause, he looked up and asked her, "You know where she lives, right?"
" do.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmMarian quickly assured. She wasn't worried about not finding Sophia's place; all she had to do was ask Cindy.
Cindy had visited Sophia's hwhen she was sick.
Back in her room, Marian called Cindy to ask for Sophia's address, claiming she needed it for swork-related reason.
Marian was usually like a little sunbeam at the office, lively and straightforward, without guile, and Cindy, being similarly
straightforward, did not give it much thought and immediately sent Sophia's address to Marian.
Looking at the address, Marian's anxiety eased slightly, only to return in full force at the thought of facing Brandon.
She had no idea if Brandon would be with Sophia or not.
The thought of encountering Brandon scared her.
After a lot of back-and-forth weighing her options, Marian made a call to Patricia.
