Chapter 1687 The Rebellious Son
Bryce nodded. “That’s great. It’s good that you guys talked about it,” he uttered before letting out a long sigh. “This
didn’t have anything to do with you, so it’s the Morgan Family’s duty to step forward and clarify things for you. Part
of the reason I didn’t want you to join the entertainment industry was that I didn’t want others to find out about this.
Honestly speaking, I knew things would come to this point from the very first day you got yourself into the
entertainment industry.”
The old man pulled his sheets aside to get out of bed. He shuffled over to stand by the window. The weather was
good today, and the sunshine warmed his insides. Bryce took a deep breath before he continued speaking. “Well,
now, I understand that there are some things that I just have to face eventually.”
Ian didn’t have much to say in response. They rarely exchanged words even when they were living in the same

and he doesn’t know the things I’ve been through. We’re both strangers and family at the same time. I might be
okay with having a few basic exchanges with him, but I really don’t know what else I can say apart from that. After
thinking for a long while, Ian couldn’t seem to come up with anything else to say. “Hmm. If that’s the case, then I’ll
come over to visit you another day. I’ll arrange for someone to snap a few photos before posting them online. I only
dropped by today to give you a heads up on this.”
When Bryce turned to look at Ian, he wore a rather amused expression on his face. “Do you have to be so
straightforward with me? You should at least act a little nicer. Regardless of what our relationship is like, I’m still
your father.”
Ian didn’t take the man’s advice. “I have no reason to be nice to you. You know the sort of person I am—I hate
beating around the bush. You’d think of me as pretentious and I would feel uneasy, so what’s the point of all that?
We might as well communicate in a way that we’re both used to.”
After a long while, Bryce finally tore his gaze away from Ian. “Your mother was just like you. I thought I liked her at
first, but later, I realized that I didn’t like her at all. It didn’t matter if her personality used to amuse me. I still got
bored of it in the end.”
Cindy felt the urge to protest after hearing what Bryce said. He’s just giving excuses! What does he mean when he
says that he got bored of someone he used to like? That just means that he’s a disloyal man. I can’t believe he’s
even putting the blame on Aurora’s straightforward personality. How rude is that? Cindy couldn’t stop herself from
speaking. “I think it’s good to be straightforward. I got together with Ian because I liked his personality, and I still
like him now. I can’t promise that I’ll like him forever, but I know for a fact that I wouldn’t lose feelings for him just
because I stopped liking his personality. If we ever break up, it’ll be because of some other factors.”
Bryce was rather shocked to hear Cindy voicing out against his opinion. He gazed at the young woman with the
same amused look on his face, seemingly not angry at all. “Your girlfriend has some guts. She seems really
protective of you.”

“She’s not protecting me. She’s just telling the truth. You didn’t end things with my mom because of her personality;
you ended things because you had too many other women around you,” Ian said flatly.
Bryce raised an eyebrow as he fixed his gaze upon Ian. Ian didn’t show the slightest hint of fear as he met Bryce’s
glare—Ian had never been afraid of the man. Bryce was a well-respected man in the family, and all of the other
family members had always sucked up to him back when Ian lived at home. However, Ian had always been the odd
one out—he had always refused to go according to Bryce’s wishes.
“Perhaps you’ve never truly been in love with my mother. You knew the sort of person she was from the start, and
you were the one who chose to be with her anyway. You chose to drag her into the deep end of the water with you,
yet you only saved yourself while throwing her aside once you got bored of her. I can’t believe you’re trying to
make it sound like it’s her fault now,” Ian continued. “I’m so glad that I’m nothing like you,” he sneered.
Bryce and Ian had never found a way to get along with each other. Ever since Ian was a teen, he had started
rebelling against Bryce. Things had always been this way—both of them would certainly get into an argument after
a few calm and peaceful exchanges.
