Chapter 2160 To Earn a Favor
Serena didn't ask her to guess. She answered, "She wants you to work with her."
Cindy froze, apparently shocked. She wasn't even a veteran, nor was she an exceptionally talented intern, so she
had no idea why Lucy wanted her. There was a conflicted look in her eyes. "Impossible. I'm not even a veteran.
Why would she want me? It'd be bad for her team."
Serena chuckled. "Don't downplay yourself. But yes, she does have another motive in mind." Serena had a
conflicted look as well. She wondered if she should say the answer out loud.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCindy pursed her lips, staring at Serena. If Serena wouldn't say anything, she couldn't guess anything.
A long moment of hesitation later, Serena whispered, "She knows Gary."
Cindy paused for a bit after hearing that. Then, she said, "Oh, I see." But I still have no idea what that means.
Serena looked at her. She has no clue what that means, does she? So, she elaborated, "She likes Gary."
Cindy's jaw dropped, then she shut her mouth. She had no idea about that. A few moments later, she said, "So, she
wants me to work with her so she can…"
Serena shrugged. "She called Mr. Kaufmann last night and found out Gary recommended you, so she's probably
trying to take you to her team, so she can teach you what she knows," she explained. "She wants Gary to owe her a
favor, so she'll make sure to make you into a good designer. Perhaps, she'll do her best, too. You can consider her
as an option. I'll help you out if you want to work with her. Don't worry; I won't take this the wrong way."
A moment of silence later, Cindy asked quietly, "Are you telling me to pick her, Miss Warhol?"
Serena quickly waved her down and smiled helplessly. "Not at all. Don't take this the wrong way. I just want you to
consider your options. You don't have to force yourself if you don't want to."
Cindy had no idea if Lucy was an excellent designer, but she had wanted to cut all ties with Gary, so she would not
let Lucy use her as a token to gain Gary's favor. Quickly, she said, "I'm not changing teams. I think learning from
you is fine. I am learning a lot, and I want to grow with my own strength, not because of anyone else." She added,
"I think I'm learning a lot from you, and as I currently am, I can't process everything easily. There's no need to
change teams. Even though she might teach me more, it will only put me under a lot of pressure."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSerena still looked calm as ever. Perhaps, she was surprised, or she had expected that was what Cindy would say.
Once Cindy was done, she nodded. "If that's what you want, I won't stop you. Go back and start working. I can't
promise you a lot, but I can promise I will teach you everything I know."
That was enough for Cindy. She stood up and bowed. "Thank you, Miss Warhol. I'll be going now."
Serena grunted, and Cindy left her office.
Cindy heaved a sigh of relief. She didn't expect Gary to have an admirer among the ranks of the company's
designers, and he was already friends with the company's founder, too. Well, he is a brilliant man, not to mention
single too. He should be expecting this. With a lot of thoughts on her mind, Cindy came back to her office. Once
again, she whipped out the book Serena gave her and read through it. A hundred thoughts raced through her head,
one of them being how she should talk to Lucy during lunch.
