Chapter 2173 Forcing Him Into Renewing the Contract

Gary hurriedly withdrew his gaze and turned to talk to Lucy.

Meanwhile, Cindy continued to observe the two, and just as she sensed that Lucy was about to look at her, she

speedily withdrew her gaze and returned to her unfinished sketch.

She didn't know if the two ultimately looked in her direction; what she did know was that the two were no longer

there when she was nearly done with her sketch a while later.

At that, she let out a long murky breath, unsure what exactly was Gary's purpose of visiting. He came for Mr.

Kaufmann last time; if he's not here for him this time, could he have come to deal with something else?

He was a little alarmed about Lucy when she was mentioned during their call the day before. Perhaps he had come

specially to deal with her.

Then again, judging from their short interaction at the doorway, Cindy thought there wasn't anything upsetting. In

fact, they looked rather well acquainted.

At that, Cindy recollected Lucy's appearance. She had to be honest; Lucy was, at the very least, decent-looking. It

was just that she had a bit of a problem with Lucy's personality. Nonetheless, it wouldn't be a big deal to her if Gary

took a fancy to Lucy.

Later, she waited until it was lunchtime to tidy up her desk, then hurried out of the office.

She decided to head home for lunch rather than have her meal at the office. However, she had just exited the

elevator and gone into the lobby when someone called out to her from the side. "Cindy, are you heading out for

lunch?"

Cindy's face stiffened slightly upon hearing the voice. She didn't even need to look to know who it was.

The woman was honestly like a fly tape she could never get rid of.

Still, she stopped in her tracks and turned around to find Lucy standing just a little distance away. Unsurprisingly,

Gary stood next to the woman, and he happened to be looking at her plainly with his hands in his pockets.

At that, Cindy hesitated for a moment before finally approaching the two. "Miss Harrison. Mr. Frye."

Lucy nodded before restoring her harmless look. "Would you like to join us for lunch? Mr. Frye and I are also

heading out."

Since Cindy wanted to stay away from them as much as possible, she turned her down. "Thanks for inviting me, but

I've already made plans to have lunch at home. Thus, I'm heading back now. You two enjoy yourselves."

It was sort of obvious that Lucy was only standing on ceremony and didn't genuinely want Cindy to join them.

Hence, she didn't insist but quickly nodded after Cindy turned her down. "Okay, we won't hold you up anymore.

Drive safe."

After responding with a smile, Cindy nodded at Gary, then headed off.

As soon as she turned around, she withdrew the smile on her face.

After striding out of the lobby, she hailed a cab, and as the cab driver drove her home, she fished out her phone to

catch up on some gossip.

Ian and Valerie's dating scandal was filled with condemnation.

The public weren't idiots, for they could tell the news was probably trying to attract attention or that the production

wanted to create buzz.

More importantly, this was the only production Ian and Valerie had ever collaborated on, and the two barely had

any interactions in private as well. Plus, they had each found their significant others recently. Hence, the public

refused to buy into the possibility that there was a romance between the two.

Most of the comments condemned how unethical the publisher was, and Cindy felt glad about that.

After putting her phone down, she heaved a sigh of relief, leaned back against her seat, and closed her eyes. Oddly,

though, her mind drifted off course.

She began wondering if this was the work of Ian's management company. They had probably decided to overwhelm

him with a plethora of issues because he decided not to renew his contract.

However, Cindy knew Hannah wasn't one to do something like that. Then again, Hannah was working under other

higher-ups.

They could be the ones causing Ian some issues to force him into renewing his contract with them. It wasn't

something impossible, after all.
